Easy Recipe: Naan Bread Pizza!
5:14:00 PM
In my home there are 8 to 10 people constantly around. Immediate family and extended family included. We cook huge batches to last for a week or two. I come from a home of 5 kids and 2 to 3 adults so yea we needed all the food we could get. Anyway I came up with this idea for pizza one night after a week of eating home cooked meals. But I had no money and we lived in a neighborhood that didn't deliver. My mother ate naan bread for breakfast with a cup of coffee like toast (she's weird like that). Well I needed a base for my pizza because I had everything else sauce, cheese, pepperoni, veggies the whole nine. And the idea came to me that if I use the naan bread it'll be fast and easy pizza without the cost or added calories and preservatives of store bought pizza. So here's my recipe for Naan Bread Pizza. Enjoy!
Naan Bread Pizza is a easy easy easy recipe that even children can make without having the costs of buying pizza from a fast food place or a store. The ingredients are cheap and easy to find, all things that you have in your home already, well except for maybe the Naan Bread. *Side Note - This recipe makes 10 pizzas scale it back if you have a small family.
Ingredients:
2 pks of Naan Bread
1 jar of any Spaghetti Sauce (or Pizza Sauce if you prefer)
-1 tbsp of Basil
-1 tsp of Sugar
-1 tbsp Parsley
-1 tsp of Red Pepper Flakes
-Black Pepper and Salt to taste
-2 tsps of Hot Sauce
1 1/2 cups of Mozzarella (Per Pizza)
1 1/2 cups of Cheddar Cheese (Per Pizza)
1 Chopped Onion
1 Chopped Bell Pepper
1 1/2 cups of Chopped Mushrooms
2 Slices of Deli Ham (Chopped Ham)
Several Pepperoni Slices
Directions
Open your jar of spaghetti or pizza sauce place it in the pot and begin to "doctor" it up. Add the seasoning from the ingredients list stir and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Taste the sauce, its important. It shouldn't taste too tomatoey or acidic. It should taste like a smooth tomato sauce. Place in a bowl and make an assembly line of all your ingredients to begin the process of creating your own pizza.
In the picture above my pizza has onions, bell pepper, mushrooms, ham, pepperoni, plenty of cheese and some spinach. Place the naan bread pizza on a baking sheet with parchment paper on 350 degrees and let it cook until cheese is melted and bubbly.
You can cut them up and serve bite size pieces or let people make their own pizza for themselves its a great recipe for kids and adults who want something different from the normal day to day hustle and bustle of dinner (i.e. chicken, spaghetti, meatloaf, liver, etc).

*Substitutions:
- Make this recipe your own. You can add all kinds of veggies for a completely vegetarian meal. If you want no additives, all pure meal then make everything from scratch! Except for the Naan bread. It comes already with no additives and no preservatives. You can also make this a brunch pizza or breakfast pizza. Use eggs, cheese, maple sausage, or make it like a big mess pizza. Put tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, potatoes, cheese, sausage, scramble eggs. Jazz it Up! Make it fun!
- Low-Fat cheese is a great idea! I use Sargento cheese and Kraft Cheese with Philadelphia Cream Cheese. They melt beautifully and I like a lot of cheese so whenever I make something with cheese look for the recipe to be over the top with cheese lol.
- Also for those of you who can't digest raw vegetables cook the bell peppers, onions, mushrooms or whatever veggies you want on your pizza cook them down until they are soft and slightly translucent. Then they will be edible for everyone and still have that strong flavor.
- Here's a recipe for Tomato Sauce that is completely from scratch and makes a great sauce:
Homemade Tomato Sauce Recipe
3 cups of Cherry Tomatoes6 Roma Tomatoes1 tbsp Sugar2 tsp Salt3 tsp Pepper1 tsp Oregano1 tsp Italian Seasoning1 tsp of Parsley
DirectionsAdd olive oil and the tomatoes in a cast iron pan or pot. Coat the tomatoes in olive oil and place in a 350 degree oven until the tomatoes have burst. Remove the hot pan or pot from the oven use a tomato smasher and smash the tomatoes until the pulp and juices begin to fill up the pan. Add the seasoning, stir and simmer for 15 minutes on medium heat. And add it to your pizza or serve over pasta its a great recipe!*Side Note: If you like your pizza sauce smoother place the tomato mixture in a blender and blend until it meets the desired consistency.
