Snack Attack: Limited Edition Oreo Marshmallow Crispy and Cookie Dough Oreo

11:11:00 PM

Oreo is one of America's beloved cookies. Next to the chocolate chip cookie it is without a doubt the most popular cookie in America across all ages. Everyone likes a good Oreo with a nice tall glass of ice cold milk. Dunking is required!

Recently I came across several posts about Oreo releasing new flavors. They always have new flavors but these were really interesting: Cookie Dough and Marshmallow Crispy. I waited until they came out and bought both. I really don't care for either of the cookies but I can definitely do without the Cookie Dough flavor. I was highly disappointed with that flavor. Let's get into the review and let me explain:

1st Flavor - Marshmallow Crispy Oreo

This seemed like a good idea on paper but not so much on the palate. I've been a fan of rice krispie treats since I was a kid and I LOVE the golden oreos! They are both awesome treats so naturally figuring out a way to combine them in my mind was the best idea ever! Well once Oreo came up with the cookie and announced it would be released in March I was excited (yeah I was amped over some cookies don't judge me!).

Last month I went to the grocery store and saw the cookies in the store so I picked up a bag. I got a glass of milk and tasted the creation. Well it was somewhat of a disappointment. In terms of texture the rice krispies in the cream are conflicting with the texture of the cookie. You have this crispy, light, popped texture with the rice krispie and on the other hand you have a hard, firm, crunchy texture of the cookie. Its just strange to have those two textures at the same time. But its not something that you can't adjust to. In terms of flavor its pretty standard. There is a slight variation in flavor of the cream but the cookie and overall flavor is basically the same. Nothing is different other than the addition of the rice krispies in the cream.

If I had to rate the cookie from the original:

Original Golden Oreo: 10 out of 10
Limited Edition Marshmallow Crispy Oreo: 4 out of 10

2nd Flavor: Cookie Dough Oreo

Now this flavor, Cookie Dough I thought it would be awesome! It was a great concept and I thought it would actually work out really well. I wasn't as skeptical about this flavor as I was about the marshmallow crispy. But eventually I would disappointed beyond measure.

This flavor was not even close to cookie dough. It tastes exactly like coffee! Seriously it tastes like straight coffee! There was nothing cookie dough about this Oreo. The Oreo cookie was a normal chocolate cookie. But the filling while it looks like cookie dough its VERY VERY deceiving! There are hardly any chocolate chips in the cream and as I said it tastes and smells like coffee. It was a strange flavor to hide under the moniker Cookie Dough Oreo. Very misleading and could be considered false advertisement!

If I had to rate the cookie from the original:

Original Oreo Cookie: 10 out of 10
Cookie Dough Oreo: -5 out of 10

Alright y'all I got a good news I found the I Wonder song on soundcloud so its an awesome little tidbit to the blog:
