Hot Toddy's can be drunk at anytime. For leisure or to cure an ailment. Many people drink a Hot Toddy to calm down and relax but I have seen people drink a hot toddy as a cocktail, especially during the winter months.
I was in my basement and it was a little bit before spring had began. So it was still a little nippy outside here in Cleveland. I wanted something that would warm me up but still be an adult drink. I didn't want cocoa or just regular tea. So I decided to make myself a hot toddy. Hot Toddy's are simple. You can use as little or as much of the liqueur as you want. Hot Toddy's can be made with whiskey, rum or brandy. In my case I had a little Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey (Whiskey) leftover from a party so I used that and it was so delicious.
So here's the recipe:
Ingredients
2 tbsp Honey
1 1/2 oz Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey
1 1/2 c Fresh Hot Sweet Tea
Lemon Slice for Garnish
Directions
Pour your honey jack into your hot sweet tea. Add some honey and stir. Add a lemon slice and let is sit for a minute to allow the flavor to bloom in the hot toddy mixture. Then enjoy!
Hot Toddy are a great cocktail for parties (usually winter or a brisk fall or if your out camping) or just curling up with a good movie or book. Its a simple cocktail that doesn't require expensive liqueur. Its made from things you usually have in your fridge and pantry. So I encourage you if you are of age ;) to try it. It was the best!
