Granny's Punch Bowl Cake
1:00:00 AM
When I was a child my grandmother used to make this for me every summer. I spent many of my days at her home learning all the techniques, tips and tricks to be a great cook. This is my favorite recipe hands down. Its simple easy, its a no bake recipe, and everything you need is at the grocery store an inexpensive dessert that everyone will love.
*Side Note: Kids with allergies can substitute strawberries out for something they enjoy. Also all the fruits are interchangeable. Just test this out for yourself!
Ingredients:
Angel food cake or light pound cake
Pineapple rings
Strawberries (Fresh or Frozen)
Whipped Cream
Vanilla or Banana Pudding
Preparation
This cake is prepared like a layered parfait. Slice the strawberries or if using frozen drain them first of their liquid in a colander and then begin layering the parfait. Start with the cake (which ever you prefer personally I like the pound cake it stands up more to the toppings than angel food does. But if you are on a diet then use angel food cake) layer the bottom of the bowl, then add the pudding, a layer of pineapple rings, and the strawberries, and lastly add the whipped cream. Continue this layering process until you have reached the top of the bowl. Place some pineapple rings on top of the whipped cream cover up with foil or plastic wrap and place in the fridge over night. It serves at least 8 to 10 people.
*Be creative with this recipe add different berries, bananas, or jazz up the whipped cream. If your on a diet and don’t want the carbs substitute the cake for granola it’s a great snack or dessert*
